My brother Jim gave me my first red plate in 1985. My husband and I would use the plate for our family of 6 as a “special” reward for a job well done, birthday, or maybe just an encouragement for a depressing day.
Now I’m a grandmother and the gift that each of my children get when they marry is the precious red plate to share with their families and to start their own traditions. It is also the gift that I give for weddings to close family friends because they know it’s not just a plate but a tradition starter. Surely everyone needs a “red plate” kind of day every so often!
